Jays Great! Fans not so great
Wow!
Last night the Toronto Blue Jays exploded for 15 hits and 12 runs in an opening day victory over the Detroit Tigers. Both totals were one shy of the Jays opening day record. Toronto scored four runs with two outs in the first and never really looked back. Roy Halladay pitched seven fairly strong innings, his only real glitch was four runs in the 7th. The young guns came out blazing as Adam Lind had a home run & six rbi’s and Travis Snider also popped a dinger. Every Toronto starter had at least one hit.
Over 48,000 fans attended the opener and unfortunately some of them should’ve stayed home. The game was delayed for over ten minutes in the bottom of the eighth as some fans were throwing balls and paper airplanes onto the field. Tigers manager Jim Leyland pulled his team off the field. To me, this was a complete embarrassment. I recall this happened a few times last season as well. What is with these fans? Were they ignored as adolescents? Who knows. I watch several out of market games & I don’t recall seeing this kind of behaviour as often as I do at the Rogers Centre. Those fans should be ashamed. Let’s hope tonight’s game is just as exciting, but with out the immaturity of a few fans.
Thanks for reading and bye for now.
